PRIVACY NOTICE

Dhillon Immigration Law relies upon cloud computing to collect, review, analyze, prepare and transmit documentation and information (“Personal Information”) you will provide about yourself (and any family members, if applicable), including but not limited to Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). Moreover, many Canadian Immigration applications are submitted online. Data including sensitive or personal information/documentation is stored in the cloud to enhance protection of your information and documentation, through our internal data security protocols.

Information and documentation collected about you, any current or potential employees/contractors and any of their dependents, is used and stored to

  • Advise you (and any employees or applicable dependents) about legal matters (or applications) including, but not limited to Canadian immigration options or potential issues that may arise in a current or future application;
  • Prepare, review and submit documentation or application materials to Canadian governmental departments, including but not limited to IRCC or CBSA, if/when retained;
  • Communicate or engage with Canadian Immigration departments, officers or other regulatory bodies on your behalf, if/when retained;
  • Prepare invoices and store accounting data related to any Canadian immigration advice and/or preparation and filing of any case materials; and
  • Conduct market research through Customer Relationship Management, data analytics software and client satisfaction surveys. This information is gathered to improve our internal marketing efforts and client service and never sold to third parties.

ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION AND TRANSMISSION OF DOCUMENTATION

Dhillon Immigration Law will communicate with you and/or your employees/contractors (and their Dependents) by email, send data over the Internet, store electronic data via computer software applications hosted remotely on the Internet, or allow access to data through third-party vendors secured portals or clouds. Electronic data that is confidential may be transmitted or stored using these methods. In using these data communication and storage methods, we make reasonable and adequate efforts to keep such communications and data access secure in accordance with our obligations under applicable laws and professional standards.

We have in place appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your Personal Information against unauthorized or unlawful use, and against accidental loss, damage or destruction. Specifically, we deploy several security measures. Personal Information and documentation you submit electronically via this platform and through our customized client portal are protected by 256-bit SSL Encryption. You will receive a separate email asking you to create an account to access our client portal. Nevertheless, despite these efforts, information transmitted online can never be one hundred percent secure. You recognize and accept that Dhillon Immigration Law has no control over the unauthorized interception or breach of communications or data once it has been sent or has been subject to unauthorized access, notwithstanding all reasonable security measures employed by us or our third-party vendors.

DATA RETENTION

We will retain all Personal Information provided in accordance with our governing regulatory bodies. Should you wish for data not to be retained on the cloud, please contact Attorney Pavan Dhillon at [email protected]. The Subject should be Data Collection and Retention. We will reach out to you to discuss your concerns and how to mitigate them.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Communication between Dhillon Immigration Law and you (and any of your employees/contractors or dependents) will be retained in strict confidence and not disclosed to any third party, except your identified family members and to Dhillon Immigration Law’s employees and assignees.

Dhillon Immigration Law confirms to effectively and efficiently deliver our legal services, we may provide and share information and/or documentation with carefully-vetted paralegals, bookkeepers/accountants, governing regulatory bodies and any assignees, including third-party contractors to assist with paralegal services and translation services, whether onsite or working remotely. Immigration law is inherently international in nature and some of our third-party providers are located outside the United States.
