About the role

Dhillon Immigration Law Group is hiring a Senior Canadian Immigration Paralegal in Canada on a full-time, remote basis. While the role is open to candidates anywhere in Canada, the ideal candidate is located in Vancouver, BC in close proximity to our team.

We handle a wide range of temporary and permanent residence matters for individuals, families, entrepreneurs, and businesses. The work is detail-oriented, strategic, and client-focused. What sets us apart is the client experience. We are committed to a high level of excellence and giving clients clear, thoughtful support through what can often be a stressful process. We are a tech-focused firm. We use modern tools, systems, automation, and AI-assisted workflows to make the work cleaner, faster, and more organized. We are looking for someone who thrives in that kind of environment and is interested in shaping how immigration work gets done.

This role is a good fit for an experienced immigration professional who can manage a busy workload, exercise independent judgment, and serve as a senior point of reference for the team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, proactive, trustworthy, and committed to the highest standard of quality.

Responsibilities

1. Issue Spotting and Attention to Detail

This is one of the most important parts of the job. You will review forms, documents, checklists, letters, and application packages, both your own and those prepared by junior team members, for accuracy, consistency, and completeness, and own final quality control on standard files before they reach a lawyer. We need someone who can be the backstop that catches errors before they go out the door.

2. Case Management

You have experience independently managing a busy caseload of exclusively Canadian immigration matters, including employment-based applications, family-based applications, citizenship, and other temporary and permanent residence matters. You will manage files through a combination of project management tools, established processes and procedures, and case management databases. You consider yourself fluent in technology and comfortable working through structured workflows.

3. Deadline Management

You will juggle multiple deadlines daily, independently prioritize based on urgency, and communicate updates to the team through remote-work channels as needed. You will track, monitor, and comply with internal, client, and immigration deadlines, and review government, tribunal, and court correspondence to ensure action is taken within the required timeframes.

4. Client Collaboration

This is a client-facing role. You have experience liaising with C-suite executives and HR managers, you participate in client meetings, and you know how to deliver exceptional client service. You will serve as the primary point of contact for our clients, provide timely updates, and respond to inquiries with minimal oversight.

5. Case Assessment

You will coordinate with our lawyers to determine the appropriate legal strategy and case type for new matters. You will follow internal protocols and use our technology stack to open new files, initiate cases with applicants, and gather and review supporting documents and questionnaires.

6. Case Preparation

You will prepare immigration forms, applications, and supporting documents, and maintain case files, databases, and case management systems to ensure organization, document integrity, and data accuracy. You will also assist our lawyers in reviewing and revising files prepared by junior paralegals, and mentor junior staff in case preparation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance. Experience with document automation tools is an asset.

7. Team Leadership

You will mentor and provide guidance and training to junior paralegals and support staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
